The 52nd Dog Derby

The Dog Derby is BACK for its 52nd year! This is the perfect opportunity to showcase your dog handling skills and make some new friends. Traverse the mountain in either our Country Dog division, Town Dog division, or get the kids involved in the Kids Division. Anything is paw-sible here at Coronet Peak!

This year’s Dog Derby is kindly sponsored by the teams at Vitapet, Coastal Canine and Happy Pet.

REGISTRATION AND PARKING

Pre-register via website or on the day from 10am. Registrations on the day will be taken at the tent in Carpark 2. (Greengates Car Park)

ENTRY FEE $30

Those registered for Dog Derby are welcome to park in Paw Parking (Greengates Car Park)

CATEGORIES

COUNTRY DIVISION        

For farm working dogs only- to enter in this section you must be able to provide the name of the farm you work on. Competitors must be 14+

TOWN DIVISION

All other dogs. Competitors are divided into Women’s and Men’s Divisions. If you are gender diverse, please register with the category you feel most comfortable in. Competitors must be 14+

KIDS DIVISION  

Kid competitors must be between ages 7-13 (inclusive). If younger than 7, the child needs to be accompanied by an adult  

TIMINGS

Kids Race start at 12:30/ Womens Town Race start at 12:40pm/ Mens Town Race start at 12:50pm/ Country start at 1pm

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

THE COURSE- COUNTRY DIVISION

You and your dog will ride up Coronet Express Gondola together. Then you will walk down to the start line which will take approximately 15 minutes.

The race will start on Duncan's Dance, then continue down Pro-am. You will then send your dog back up the hill around a gate before calling them back, meeting you at the finish line.

THE COURSE- TOWN DIVISION

You and your dog will ride up Meadows Express Chair Lift together. The race will start and finish on the Lower M1.

THE COURSE- KIDS DIVISION

You and your dog will ride up Meadows Express Chair Lift together. You will walk down the M1 about 5 minutes to get to the start.

The race will start and finish on the Lower M1.

BARK OFF

This year’s Bark Off is kicking off at 3pm with a professional dog photographer on-site to snap some pawfect pet pawtraits!

ENTRANTS

Make sure you wear suitable footwear & clothing for a full mountain environment! Your dog must be on a lead at all times. Please remember to bring poo bags!

Please note you do not need ski's or snowboards for the Dog Derby, all entrants will run down the hill together with their pooch!

Online registrations close Friday 8 August 4PM.
