Take in the most impressive views Queenstown has to offer up Coronet Peak this summer. Just a 16km / 20-minute drive from Queenstown on an easy sealed road with the Wakatipu Basin laid out below you.

Sit back and enjoy a gondola ride to 1649m. Enjoy world-famous views over the Wakatipu basin and back to the divide of the Southern Alps. It’s Queenstown’s new view, suitable for all and perfect for families or maybe even an iconic wedding photo!
Prefer your coffee or lunch with a view? Dine at Café 1200, located in our base building, where you can choose from the all-day menu or freshly prepared cabinet food while soaking up the sun on our spacious deck. A selection of local Central Otago wine and craft beer is available along with hot and cold drinks.
How long is the summer season
We are open daily from 18 December 2020 to 14th March 2021. Subject to weather conditions.
Closed Christmas day.
What time does the mountain open?
Coronet Peak is open from 10am – 6.30pm from Thursday to Sunday.
On Fridays, we are open from 10am – 8:30pm Fridays
Lift and sightseeing facilities are subject to weather conditions.
Can I get food on the mountain?
You bet! We’ve got Cafe 1200 located just next to the chairlift to keep you fueled and hydrated for an epic day on the downhill.
Cafe opens at 10:00am.
Our licensed facility is a great place to savour the local beers and wines after a day on the hill.
How do I get there?
What do I need to bring?
The Queenstown weather can sometimes give us all 4 seasons in one day so it is important that you are prepared for an alpine environment. Please note there are no trees for shelter from the elements up here.
We recommend you have sturdy footwear, bring sunblock, hats, and extra layers. And of course, don't forget your camera to capture the epic views!
Forgot the sunscreen?! Punctured your tire? Don't panic, our retail area will have everything to keep you covered.
Does your cafe have wifi?
Yes, we have fast, free wifi at Coronet Peak. You can come up here and work while enjoying the cafe and views.
Do you allow dogs to come up and ride the gondola?
Yes, your pooch can join you in the gondola and on the mountain. We do ask you to keep all dogs on a lead.
