Group Lesson

Our ski and snowboard group lessons are guaranteed to build your confidence and improve your skills. With help from our trained and qualified instructors you will also get to know the best ski runs at Coronet Peak that suit your ability level. Lessons will vary depending on your ability level, instructors and guest service staff will help you into a lesson that is appropriate for your ability.


  • Two lessons per day.
  • Adult lessons are 1:50 hours and kids 5-17 yrs are 2.5 hours duration, please arrive at the lessons area at least 15 minutes before your lesson starts. No need to book a specific time.
  • Morning lessons start daily at 10:20am for Adults and 10:00am for Kids 5-17 yrs.
  • Afternoon lessons start daily at 2pm for Adults and 1:30pm for Kids 5-17 yrs.
  • Open to all ability levels.
  • Please note that small lesson groups of less than 3 people will receive reduced lessons times of one hour per lesson.

Private Lesson

Want to learn the basics or give the terrain park a shot? We have highly trained coaches dedicated to giving you a personalised coaching experience to fast track your progress. A dedicated coach that can give you the insider’s perspective on the mountain and also show you the best terrain to suit your abilities. 

  • Choose from full day or three hour private ski and snowboard lessons.
  • Go for a one-on-one setting or with a group of up to six of your friends or family.
  • All private ski or snowboard lessons have priority lift access (skip the queue). 
  • Available for all ability levels.
  • We also offer private telemark and adaptive lessons.
  • 6 hours (Full Day, for 1-6 people) 9:20am.
  • 3 hours (Half Day, for 1-6 people) 9:20am/1:00pm.

Advanced bookings are essential.

Kids Package - Kea Club

Age: 5-17

Participating in the Kea Club is an excellent way for children to improve their skills, make new friends and have a great day on the mountain.


  • Ski lessons available from 5 years of age.
  • Snowboard lessons available from 7 years of age.


  • Lift Pass.
  • Lessons (2x 2.5 hour lessons).
  • Morning lessons start at 10am and afternoon lessons start at 1:30pm. Please arrive at the lessons area 15 minutes before your lessons start. No booking required for time slots.
  • Recreational ski or snowboard equipment hire (skis or snowboard, boots and poles - helmet and clothing can be added on for additional cost).
  • Lunch.

You will need to collect your lift pass and rentals (available from 9am) before arriving at the lessons area, so please allow plenty of time to avoid disappointment.

Open to all abilities.

We will help you and your child chose the right level before commencing with some simple questions.

Important information:

  • To give families flexibility, Kea Club cannot be reserved. To avoid disappointment, please check-in early with Guest Services to pick up your MyPass in advance and arrive at the lesson area 15 minutes prior to the start of the program: i.e. at 9:45am.
  • Please be aware that all kids’ lessons have a maximum group number for safety and optimal learning.
  • If weather doesn’t permit lessons, we provide indoor entertainment.

Optional Drop Off add-on:

We have a convenient drop-off service in the base building to accommodate children from 9am where our friendly staff take your kids through rentals and on to Kea Club.

Little Rippers

Age: 4-6 yrs

The Little Rippers program is five day learn to ski program at Coronet Peak that incorporates safety, learning and fun. Kids will be assigned to a group based on their ability (maximum group size of four), the groups will stay together during the program so that they can develop their technique, skiing ability and have the same coach each weekend over the five week program.

  • Program runs for 5 weeks.
  • 9:30am - 3pm every Saturday.
  • Lessons and lunch are provided everyday. 
  • You will need a valid lift pass and ski equipment, this can be purchased/hired on the mountain if required.
  • Minimum Ability Level: Level 2.

5 Day Program


Peak Squad

Age: 7 - 16

The Peak Squad ski program at Coronet Peak focuses on developing strong skiers who can rip all over the mountain.

Racecourses, terrain parks, on and off-piste as well as chutes and steeps will all be used to challenge the skiers within a safe and fun environment. Each Peak Squad skier will be assigned to a group based on their ability. Young skiers will learn and develop solid basic technique for both racing and free skiing.

  • Program runs for 5 weeks.
  • 9am - 3pm every Saturday.
  • Lessons and lunch provided.
  • You will need a valid lift pass and ski equipment, this can be purchased/hired on the mountain if required.
  • Minimum Ability Level: Suitable for Level 5 and 6.

5 Day Program


Mountain Holiday Program

Age: 5 - 17

A five day ski and snowboard program that runs from 10am to 4pm during the NZ school holidays.

The Mountain Holiday multi-day program is for all ability levels with an emphasis on fun and learning, and requires a certain level of stamina. Kids are grouped based on their ability and teamed up with top children's instructors from around the world.

  • Program runs during NZ School Holidays: 9th - 13th & 16th -20th July 2018. Our 2018 program has been completed.
  • Age: Skiers must be at least five years old and snowboarders must be at least seven years old.
  • Includes: Lessons and lunch for five consecutive days.
  • You will need a valid lift pass and ski equipment, this can be purchased/hired on the mountain if required.
  • Open to all ability levels.

Intro to QAST

Age: 7 - 17

QAST – Queenstown Alpine Skiing Team.

Kids get the opportunity to train on the world class ski racing terrain at Coronet Peak throughout the July school holidays. 

The program is suitable for:

  • Skiers already racing at local/national schools level.
  • Skiers wanting an introduction to ski racing and moving into the QAST full time program after the school holidays.
  • Each skier will be assigned to a group for the length of the program. QAST Bibs are also included for all participants.
  • Program runs from 9am to 2pm daily.
  • Age: 7+ years.
  • You will need a valid lift pass and ski equipment, these can be purchased/hired on the mountain if required and are not included in the program.


  • Coaching and lunch.
  • Participation in Coronet Peak Interfiled race on the final day of the program.
  • Minimum Ability Level: Level 4, who can use the Rocky Gully T-bar by themselves.


  • Program runs during NZ School Holidays: 8th - 22nd July 2018.
  • The program runs in 4 blocks of 3 days.

Women's Ski Sessions

Designed and delivered by our experienced coaches and ideal for women 18+ wanting to push their technical and terrain skiing to higher levels of competence, break out of any ‘status quo’ in their skiing and take skiing to the next level. Come and join groups of local women or meet those visiting from afar for a weekend of inspiration, fun and achievement in your skiing. Choose between one or two days on the dates below.


  • Coaching & video analysis.
  • Coffee and lunch voucher for the first day.


  • Program runs from 9am - 4pm on set dates.
  • You will need a valid lift pass and ski equipment, this can be purchased/hired on the mountain if required.
  • Minimum Ability Level: Intermediate - suitable for Level 4 and above.

Rookie Instructor Apprenticeship Program

How much do you love it, live it and want to share it?

Our Rookie Instructor Programme is NZSki’s instructor apprenticeship during which you will experience ski and/or snowboard instructor training of the highest quality.

Designed for New Zealand or Australian skiers or snowboarders over the age of 17 who are inspired to pathway into becoming a snowsports instructor.

We are looking for individuals committed to sharing their passion for our mountains through our shared purpose of “Love it, Live it, Share it”.

Successful applicants will have an opportunity to join one of the most experienced Snowsports Schools in New Zealand.

Selection Process:

Candidates will participate in a one day ‘interview’. At the end of the day, successful candidates will be offered a position with NZSki in one of our Snowsports Schools as an Apprentice Instructor.

Selection criteria:

We are looking for necessary skills and attributes demonstrated by professional instructors including appearance, teamwork, attitude, punctuality and highly effective communication.

Candidates must be at least 17 years of age to apply.

Included in the course fee is in-house training and development as well as the fee for the New Zealand Snowsports Instructors Alliance (NZSIA and SBINZ) Level One” exam. Successful ‘rookies’ are required to take the “Level One” exam shortly after the interview day, prior to starting any teaching. We are committed to providing the best training in order to ensure you every success in your exams and be able to offer you the opportunity to teach with us at peak times. 2019 Applications:

  • Price: $999 and we will be in touch shortly with payment information for applicants.
  • Applications close Friday 31st of May 2019, 5pm.
  • On snow interview day is Saturday 8th June 2019 at The Remarkables. Meeting point is Guest Services desk on ground floor at 10am.

What to bring/have for the on-snow interview: Lift pass available at 50% discount for the try­-out day. Please bring your ski/board gear and be ready to ski or ride at 10am.

The NZSki rookie programme includes:

  • NZSIA/SBINZ membership fee which is refundable if not selected into the programme.
  • NZSIA/SBINZ Level One exam fee which is refundable if not selected into the programme.
  • NZSki will provide training, staff ID and a season pass to successful apprentice instructors.

Work is not guaranteed and fluctuates due to the nature of our business; successful apprentice instructors will need enough funds to support themselves through the season and have accommodation plans.

When we are not able to provide work, we are committed to providing the best training in order to make you successful during further exams and while teaching.

We have an expectation that successful apprentices will continue to take the NZSIA/SBINZ Level Two exams (this will be at their own expense) during the 2019 winter season.

SITCo started in 2002 at Coronet Peak and since then it has seen many keen skiers and snowboarders come through their programmes and go on to snowsports adventures all round the world. SITCo offer courses of different lengths for different abilities, working with Coronet Peak & The Remarkables Snowsport Schools SITCo also offer Intership programs. SITCo is ran by two of Coronet Peaks top trainers. Colin and Gavin will be sure to look after you.

Snow Trainers was founded in Queenstown in 2003 with the aim of providing the BEST ski and snowboard training possible - which is why we work with the leading snowsports school in the Southern Hemisphere! We offer many different courses and internships, and can tailor courses to suit your needs. As well as fantastic training we also organise lots of off-snow activities to make sure you have an amazing winter experience you will never forget!

EA Ski and Snowboard

EA Ski and Snowboard partner with NZSki to provide instructor internships and training courses in both Queenstown resorts and also at Mt Hutt. EA provide support all the way through your journey to becoming an instructor, from helping you chose the right program to looking for jobs in the future around the world. Our experienced staff have spent years in the industry and as we are based in Queenstown, we’re right here ready to help out with anything!and would be happy to discuss your options with you!

All instructing and guiding at Coronet Peak is restricted to the instructors of Coronet Peak Snow Sports School. 

All NZSki mountains including Coronet Peak hold an exclusive commercial operation concession from the Department of Conservation. Further action may be taken with anyone who is found to be instructing/guiding without written permission.
